Biography
This painter turned photographer born 1935 in Zurich with a compulsion to create attended art schools in French and German-speaking Switzerland.
Feeling stifled in his homeland he exchanged it for the immediacy of life in Andalusia, Spain. There he met multi talented Australian Charis McKittrick, born 1939.
They spent one night together February ’64 and have never separated since. Their collaborative pattern was established during a challenging 45,000km worldwide motorcycle journey with roles and credits being interchanged as expedient.
This site now begins to catalogue the creative outcome of their life together, starting with the photographic series exhibited in Sydney, where they settled in 1969 and progressing through their entire collection dating back to the fifties.
George Schwarz, 22/10/1935–28/5/2021
George Schwarz completed this life on 28 May 2021. He is survived by his wife and collaborator Charis.
