Shades of Grey

1974

Layered grey transparencies supported in black perspex boxes.

Two measuring 26 x 26 x 26cm, are illuminated.

The remainder, 26 x 26 x 4cm, are illuminated naturally.

One ethereal sculpture 30 x 30cm x 1.7m clear perspex horizontal construct using layered fresnel lenses, Crookes radiometers, cloudscapes and esoteric imagery, not preserved.

THE WHEEL'S A DREAM installation performance.

George and Charis Schwarz are each doing their own thing in some intriguing works drawn from folk culture. In his three dimensional photographs, George Schwarz uses super-imposed transparencies, reflected and transmitted light, to evoke nostalgic dream images and in ‘The Wheel’s a Dream’, Charis displays a carload of kitsch in a (1958) 1953 Holden outside the gallery.
